Gentlemen and Ladies,
Please accept this final report on the ‘00 Festival.
Thirty two breweries presented their beers but only 76 comp tickets were turned in (I think that’s a bit lower than were actually present, last year we had 150). Documented attendance was up about 50 over last year. Paid attendance was up 130, and gross income increased by over $2000.
A (much) less expensive, though still very high class venue helped cut expenses by over $3000. This made the biggest difference between the $1011 net loss of last year to this year’s surge back into the black.
As with most events, the tale of the festival is told by following the money. The body count is as follows:

ATTENDANCE
76 Complimentary admission - breweries, vendors, etc. - documented by passes turned in
47 Volunteers - free admission - documented by sign in sheets
123 unpaid admissions (averaging 6hrs. worked = 738 volunteer hours worked the day of the festival)
270 paid tickets sold
393 total attendance

Edie and I will donate $56 make a nice round $5000 donation to charity. However, charity begins at home. The first $500 stays with me to pay off half of the $1011 interest free loan I gave the Festival last year.
$500 goes to Vietnam Veterans Against the War. Their dedicated volunteers humping beer into the hall impressed all the brewers. $250 is returned to Vietnam Veterans of America #324 for running the cash raffle, and $50 is kicked back to the Milwaukee Beer Barons for running the homebrew contest. $100 will be sent to Fr. Leonard Copeland to be donated to his favorite charity. Leaving $3600 which will be divided evenly with $1800 going to My Lai projects to be distributed as they see fit, and $1800 to the Vietnam Veterans Art Museum in Chicago.
Next year I hope to increase presale tickets, and the homebrew contest will be started earlier. I will also have a better established web page. I expect this and other efforts will increase attendance. I am looking forward to a bigger, more successful, and hopefully more profitable festival next year.

Sincerely,

John Zutz
