Gentlemen and Ladies,
Please accept this final report on the 02 Festival. The My Lai donation can totaled
$508, which is not included in the following total - likely the most expensive haircut
of my life.
We had thirty eight exhibit tables. Attendance was up over last year. Paid attendance
was up by over100, and gross income increased by over $3000. Net income was up by
almost $2000.
Serb Hall was as classy as ever, and for some reason they really like us. We paid
them more this year because they served over 450 dinners.
As with most events, the tale of the festival is told by following the money. The
body count is as follows:
ATTENDANCE
53 Complimentary admission - documented by passes (at least100 didn’t use passes)
63 Volunteers - free admission - documented by sign in sheets
116 documented unpaid admissions
425 paid admission - documented by ticket stubs (there were a couple no-shows)
541 total attendance (documented) Estimated attendance 650

$ 7170 Net Income Edie and I will donate $30 make a nice round $7200 donation
to charity.
The first $1000 goes to Vietnam Veterans Against the War (half to the national office
and half to the Milwaukee Chapter). Their dedicated volunteers humping beer into
the hall impressed all the brewers, as usual.
$190 is goes to Vietnam Veterans of America #324 for running the cash raffle. $100
will be sent to Fr. Edward Lisowski to be donated to his favorite charity. Milwaukee
Beer Barons have refused to accept any money for running the homebrew contest. Leaving
$5910 which will be divided evenly with $2955 going to My Lai projects to be distributed
as they see fit, and $2955 to the Vietnam Veterans Art Museum in Chicago.
Next year I hope to increase presale tickets, and the homebrew contest will be started
earlier. Paying for web space should make communications more relyable. I expect
this and other efforts will increase attendance. I am looking forward to a bigger,
more successful, and hopefully more profitable festival next year.
Mark your calendar - March 9, 2003.
Sincerely,
John Zutz
