CUT THE FESTMASTER'S PONYTAIL

In early 2002 the Festmaster was trying to figure a way to squeeze extra money out of the wallets of people who attended the festival, and his hair was getting long enough to start bothering him - so it started as kind of a joke, but people were interested.

"Cut the Festmaster's Ponytail" began snowballing.

Just before the blessing (12:30), the Festmaster pointed out the donation can for My Lai Projects and said if there was $300 in the can we would cut the Festmaster's ponytail. First his Mother put in $10, then his Father put in $50.

A buxom babe volunteered to do the cutting. It was a lock (pun intended).

By 2:30 donations were approaching $400. Someone decided that since the total was so large we might as well cut it all off. This turned out to be a very popular attraction. The audience cheered, stomped and shouted advice. The donation can continued to circulate while the cutting progressed. The total was $508.

The rest (or should I say the hair) is history.
